Fr. Pigi Bernareggi

Fr. Pigi Bernareggi was born in 1939, in Milan. He was Fr. Luigi Giussani’s student at Berchet High School and one of the first members of the GS (Student Youth) group. He graduated in Philosophy at the Catholic University in Milan with a dissertation on the philosopher Ockham and the disruption of the modern thought. As a seminarian he left for Brazil in 1964 to Belo Horizonte. He was ordained as priest in the diocese of Belo Horizonte in 1967. Since then he has been living his priestly vocation in the slums (favelas) with the homeless.
