Our speakers for the “Born with a Promise” event could not be more different from each other in cultural background, age, and personal stories. Yet, in establishing One City Mission and Broken Concrete, they both bet on something irreducible, which is planted in the hearts of those they meet who are homeless or victims of gun violence: the expectation of the goodness of life. Together, they are building, through unusual friendships and surprising human connections, a human reality that is making a difference in our cities.
