Fr. Wojciech Stasiewicz

Father Wojciech Stasiewicz was born in Lublin, Poland, in a family of four brothers. He attended a vocational school with a culinary profile, and then entered the Metropolitan Theological Seminary in Lublin, where he studied from 1999 to 2005. Continuing his academic formation, he completed postgraduate studies in Drug Addiction Prevention and Therapy between 2006 and 2007. From 2008 to 2011, he pursued doctoral studies in Pastoral Theology with a specialization in Liturgics at the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin.

His priestly ministry began in 2005 when he was appointed vicar of the Parish of St. John the Baptist and St. Bartholomew the Apostle in Kazimierz Dolny, Poland. From 2007 to 2017, he served as vicar of the Parish of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Sumy, within the Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhia Diocese in Ukraine. He also acted as director of Caritas-Spes for the Sumy deanery from 2007 to 2017. Between 2017 and 2022, Fr. Wojciech served as vicar of the Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Kharkiv. Since 2017, he has acted as Director of Caritas-Spes of the Kharkiv-Zaporizhzhia Diocese.

During the current Russian aggression against Ukraine, Caritas-Spes Kharkiv, under Father Wojciech’s leadership, has carried out extensive humanitarian activities. Each week, the organization assists between 3,000 and 5,000 people in need in Kharkiv and the surrounding Kharkiv Oblast. Most of the humanitarian aid is delivered from Poland. Since the beginning of the war, a total of 253,213 food parcels have been distributed to those affected by the conflict.
