Gregory M. Reichberg

Gregory M. Reichberg is Research Professor at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). He holds a Ph.D. in philosophy from Emory University (USA). From 2012 to 2020, he led the Research School on Peace and Conflict at the University of Oslo, and from 2009 to 2012, he was director of the PRIO Cyprus Centre in Nicosia, where he coordinated research and dialogue activities in search of a political settlement to the island’s division. He has also led dialogue activities involving Iran, Iraq, and Lebanon. A member of the Vatican’s Academy of Social Sciences since 2016, he also serves as an advisor to the Holy See’s mission to the United Nations in Geneva. His writings include a monograph, Thomas Aquinas on War and Peace (Cambridge University Press, 2017). He has published numerous scholarly articles on inter alia just war in the Catholic tradition. He has commented on contemporary events in America Magazine, Commonweal, National Catholic Reporter, New York Times, and in the mainstream Norwegian press. His current work is focused on the ethical implications of artificial intelligence in the military domain.
