Paolo Carozza
Paolo Carozza is Professor of Law and Concurrent Professor of Political Science at the University of Notre Dame. His numerous scholarly books and articles on comparative constitutional law and human rights law have been published in multiple languages. His current research interests focus on the impact of AI on human dignity and on the rule of law. At Notre Dame, he also served as the director of the Kellogg Institute for International Studies for ten years. Beyond the academy, he serves as the Lead Co-Chair of the Oversight Board, an independent body established by Meta Platforms, Inc., to render binding decisions and provide broad policy recommendations on complex content moderation issues on Meta’s platforms. He has also served in a variety of institutions dedicated to human rights and the rule of law, including as the President of the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, the US Member of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission), and a member of the US State Department’s Commission on Unalienable Rights. He has been elected to the Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences and the American Academy of Sciences and Letters, and has been a visiting professor at a variety of other universities in the United States, Europe, and South America.
