Joyful Days Ahead

Joyful Days Are Ahead: Because I've Asked the Lord to Be Able to Serve Him, is a posthumous collection, available for the first time in English, by Giovanni Calzone, who passed prematurely in a car accident.
"A few months before he died, Giovanni wrote, ‘Joyful days are ahead because I have asked the Lord to be able to serve Him.’ They are not joyful days because he had finished university in a brilliant way, not because he was one of the most fascinating and impressive people of our companionship, not because he had in front of him a rich and totally positive future, not because he had a beautiful girlfriend (in fact he did have all of these): ‘Joyful days are ahead because I have asked the Lord to be able to serve Him.’ In front of this truth, we are normally empty, we are so far from this truth, which is the goal of everything that exists. But Giovanni clearly perceived that the most attractive place for each of us is precisely our place in the divine plan." — Fr. Luigi Giussani
