Alessandro Maffioli
Alessandro Maffioli is Managing Director of the Office of Development Effectiveness at IDB Invest, where he oversees all work related to measuring, managing, and maximizing development impact across the investment portfolio. He leads the Development Effectiveness team and is responsible for the development and implementation of the Impact Management Framework, an integrated approach that ensures impact is embedded throughout the entire investment lifecycle.
With more than two decades at the IDB Group, Alessandro has led impact evaluations across agricultural development, innovation, SME productivity, and financial inclusion. His work has helped advance evidence-based practices that strengthen private sector contributions to sustainable development in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Prior to joining the IDB Group in 2004, Alessandro was a researcher at Bocconi University’s Center for Latin American Studies and Transition Economies, focusing on innovation economics and regional development. He holds a Ph.D. in Production and Development Economics from the University of Insubria, Italy.
